Spontaneous ekdromi to Skala Sikiminias
Zeus held off throwing his thunderbolts until we were all nestled snug in our beds! Then it happened a big boom and I don't think I slept for the rest of the night. Any light that was on was wiped out for an instant and then that light dark came back. Megalo Sabato morning was cold, wet, and musty! Making and stoking a fire was a must just to heat the bones! For a brief instant the sun reared it's head and then by midday the powerful rays reached the puddles on the tarmac! Cooped up and ready for an ekdromi (a drive) we checked out sleepy Anaxos and Petra. Shopowners were cleaning the remnants of the storm and holiday makers drinking their beloved frappes. Onward through the Lepetemnos road we went past Vafeios, Argenos and Sikiminia down to Skala looking for an open restaurant. Under the mulberry tree (just ask) we sat and greeted the same tourists two brothers in the Greek Navy, we had seen the day before in Molyvos Harbour. The sun warmed our faces and our backs and we spent a lazy beautiful Saturday looking at the Mermaid Madonna Church in the quaint fishing village of Skala Sikiminia! Yet, another great meal (YAGM)! After this Easter Holiday it's time to "keep on trekking!" to work off the fabulous food eaten on the island of Lesvos!
