Stripped down - the dawn of a new day! Happy 1 year anniversary Ypsitv!
Andrea "selfie" with my troll family courtesy of the Norwegians! I'm wearing my BoSOX hat because in a past life I was and still am a Red Sox fan from Boston. I guess that makes me wordly and part of the Red Sox nation. Today, it's -4 degrees Celsius in Ipsilometopo, Lesvos, Greece and that BoSox hat is keeping this big noggin of mine warm. How did I get here? And what is Ypsitv?
Long story which will eventually become a best seller if I can manage to get it out to the right crowd! Back to Ypsitv! I am half Greek and my grandparents had the foresight about 100 years ago to immigrate to America from this island that I now call home - Lesvos.
Yes, they were what we Americans call hardworking, traditional and paved the way for their children and subsequently their grandchildren in the States! Fast forward, my parents decide in the late 60's to come to Greece and check out the family property. Twenty years later in the 80's they attempt the first renovation of "this old house!" Guess where? Ipsilometopo on the island of Lesvos. A small feat considering my father, who is on crutches at that point from polio can't do any of it and my mother who doesn't speak a word of Greek but is the backbone of the union becomes the physical strength. Luckily my father meets a man on the ship coming from Piraeus, who becomes the man to oversee the renovation.
That now was almost 35 years ago! I was blessed with meeting the cast of my foreign lifestory through my parents who during the renovations stayed guess where "The Delphinia" in Molyvos.
Back to Ipsilometopo, which is about a twenty five minute drive up and over the mountain from Molyvos. Ten years ago, I chose to move to Greece to work on the Olympic Games as a Producer. It was a bold move and one that I don't think psychologically I was prepared for but I did it. And because I had spent summers for years here at the house in Ipsilometopo, I decided I wanted to try a winter and see if I could do it. Everyone told me I was crazy and at times I thought I was myself. But, I did it. Ypsitv is my alter ego that I can call my creative expression and promote, educate and have fun with content! I didn't want to make a website that was Andrea Sarris because frankly I think that is boring! So, a year ago during all the "misery" of Greece going down the tubes, I cast a big net and jumped into this thing we call VR - virtual reality, the internet and social media. And now, this thing I call Ypsitv is part of my story! And you as my audience can choose to jump on or not. I'm sitting on some of the best content - many documentaries in the making with the world watching Greece and the new lefty commie government who will hopefully bring this small struggling nation back! Greece is a humanitarian issue now and I really don't think the mainstream media is reporting what is really happening here! Welcome to the world of ypsitv reporting from Ipsilometopo, Lesvos, Greece! Stay tuned.... for the dawn of a new Greek day!
