I learned about crisis / disaster social solidarity on the front line on the Island of Lesvos in Greece.
As a world society dealing with a pandemic, in my humble opinion, we need to practice social solidarity. It's not a surface thing, it's an actual life or death thing and not just confronting your own death but someone else's. Social solidarity is the drug.
After many a deep moral conversation, I snap out of the intensity of the situation with either a toilet paper joke or saying: "you can't fix stupid."
I have to admit, I have had my fill of the media. I sit and collect information and thankfully, I have really great distractions like snapchat, messenger, phone to process the enormity of it all.
But seriously... folks...
I got my chocolate chip cookie bar baking hat on to distract.
Yummy, comforting and easy to make.
Today is cold, the sun feels good on my Vitamin D deprived skin, welcome to New England.
More distraction ~ the cardinal and smokey.
Check-ins with friends.
Sit down, listen, watch and absorb the news.
"Go outside, go to the park but don't do it in big groups. Do what you can to avoid big groups," snippets from Governor Baker's PC (press conference), today.
Seriously, social solidarity is the drug, chocolate chip cookie bars are the distraction and Oscar the Grouch is the enforcer.
I don't know about you but I love staying at home.
